Sunday Groups at St. James

Children are a very welcome and important part of the St. James Church family. Our services on the first and third Sundays of the month are for all ages together with plenty of content that children will enjoy, and we have special Sunday groups available for children aged 0-16 during the main part of the service on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays. Children begin in church with their parents and leave part-way through the service for their own age-appropriate, fun, Bible-based groups.

St. James currently has four groups for 0-16s on a Sunday morning. Please see below for more details.

Crèche

A supervised creche is available in the Centre on Sundays when older children go out to Sunday groups. Parents are welcome to stay with their children or or to leave them with our volunteers. Parents are equally welcome to keep young children with them in the service if they prefer. A children’s corner is available on the carpeted area at the back right of the church with quiet toys and books for babies and toddlers. Please use this area as needed.

Bubbles

Children may join Bubbles in the September after they turn 3 and stay until the end of school Year 1. Bubbles meets in the Hatch Room of the Church Centre, opposite the Creche. Children join the group part-way through the morning service to enjoy their own fun-based session including a Bible story and craft. Parents are to direct children to the group after the opening worship, and return to church where they will be directed to collect them later in the service. Children who are not quite ready for Bubbles are very welcome to stay in Crèche until Bubbles is right for them.

Splash

Splash is a fun group for children in school years 2 - 5. The group meets in the youth centre next door to the church, where there is more space to operate safely. Group leaders accompany children to their group part-way through the morning service to enjoy a fun session including Bible story and discussion, crafts and games. Children return to church with their leaders in time for communion at the end of the service.

XStream

The group meets in the youth centre next door to the church, where there is more space to operate safely. Group leaders accompany the young people to their group part-way through the morning service to enjoy a fun session including Bible teaching and discussion, worksheets and games. Young people will return to church with their leaders in time for communion at the end of the service.
